Personally, I tend to be secretive. I don't divulge my information to people. I tend to be this kind of restrained person. But, ever since I starting divulging my information to people, I noticed that things doesn't work out as planned.
There was a time I noticed my friend had a grudge against me. I had to call her to one corner and asked what the problem was. She didn't want to speak to me initially until I persuaded her. Finally, she opened up and said it was because I didn't inform her about the plan I took earlier. Well, what I did wasn't wrong. I had my reasons for doing that. I prefer to allow my end result speak rather than telling people about my initial plans.

1. Your Business Ideas And Plans:
This is a crucial thing you shouldn't tell anyone not even your family. Successful people keep their business ideas to themselves. I remember vividly when my mum would think of setting up a little business in our neighborhood and she would warn us never to tell anybody about it yet. Little did I know why she said that.
For instance, if you as a student comes up with a business idea of let's say selling past questions in school and you tell your friend about it, your plans may fall apart. It's either your friend or someone else starts that business before you or something just turns out wrong. You should keep that important information to yourself. Wait until it materializes before you speak about it.
Have you ever noticed that any of your businsss plan or idea you tell people doesn't work out well at the end? Sit and think.
Aside from people stealing your business ideas, it may also bring jealousy.
2. Your Progress:
I shake my head when I see people divulging so many crucial information such as every progress he or she makes. Forget the fact that such person is your family member or your bossom friend. You shouldn't discuss your progress to people.
This is now made possible via social media. Once you buy a car, you post it on Instagram, on Facebook and the likes. Once you bag a degree, you post it too. Once you give birth, you post it. Once you celebrate your birthday in a grand style, you post it too. You just don't have any privacy my Iwonder if such people are so dumb. Can't you just keep quiet for once? Must you reveal every of your progress to the public?
This world is actually wicked and you don't know who is who. You don't know if your attitude can breed jealousy and envy. You don't even know if your attitude can attract the evil ones. Be wise! Just stay mute! Don't attract unnecessary enemies. Telling people about your progress won't add to your progress. Just keep it to yourself. Let your work speak for you.
3. Your Marriage:
If you want to be successful in your marriage, then, restrain your tongue from speaking to anyone about it. It saddens my heart when I see couples involving a third party in their marriage. Happenings in your marriage should be kept a secret if you want to have a successful marriage.
If your husband buys you a car, you don't need to start telling all your friends or even your family about it. It could breed envy and jealousy which is a very terrible thing. It could also attract enemies to yourself.
Never discuss about your spouse's weak point to anybody neither discuss their strong point to anyone. Never discuss your in-laws to anybody. You don't know who is who. Just restrain your tongue from telling people things until they ask. Even when they ask, you shouldn't divulge all the whole answers to them. You could answer them indirectly.
For instance, your husband bought you a car and your friend asks you how you came about the car. You can just simply say it was God that did it rather than telling the person everything that happened.
When a woman boasts about her man in the midst of her friends, it attracts jealousy and envy. Just safe your head and keep quiet.
4. Your Children Success:
One major thing all Nigerian parents are guilty of is divulging their children's success to the public. On most occasion, at the end of it all, such child becomes a disappointment and a failure. Why must parents divulge all the success of their children? This is a very bad thing.
If you want to have a successful family, you must not divulge such information to the public. Nigerian parents have this joy in boasting about their kids. When their kids get a scholarship, they announce it to the whole world. When their kids bags the first position in their class, they announce it. When their kids win a prize, they announce it.
Even when their children gains admission into tertiary institutions, the world must know. This shouldn't be so as we live in a wicked world. There are evil people here and there. It's not everyone who smiles at you that likes you.
Parents should be careful on the kind of information they divulge about their kids to people including family members.
Yes! Including family members. Even in a family, there is competition. Everyone wants their children to be the best. So, when they find your child better than theirs, they start feeling jealous and jealousy can lead to disastrous things.
Parents should stop posting their children progress on social media. It's so sad to see some vibrant graduates looking for jobs on the streets. Who knows what had happened?
If your child got an admission to study medicine and surger or any course, keep it to yourself. Stop broadcasting. Stop posting their matriculation pictures or graduation pictures on social media just to impress your colleagues.
Save your head and that of your children.
5. Your Weakness:
If our eyes could be opened to see the number of people who wants to pull us down, you will shed tears. There are millions of people who aren't just happy with you and would try everything possible to pull you down. This is one reason why you shouldn't tell anybody about your weakness. They could take advantage of that and use it against you.
Remember, you should trust no one. Even your sibling can bring you down. Even your spouse can bring you down. Even your best friend can do the same. Be careful of what you say to others about yourself.
In essence, to be successful life, you must learn to restrain your tongue from speaking to others about everything that goes on in your life. Speak less and save your head. You don't know who is who. Successful people in life tend to speak less. Be wise!
